Event 10 saw the first regular turbo of result hk XVIII take place yesterday: a $200+$16 No Limit Hold’em tournament with $350,000 guaranteed. The actual prize pool surpassed the guarantee, reaching $428,600 thanks to 2,143 participants. This created an incredible $87,412.97 1st place prize.
Marc Karam was the host of Event 10. Born in Montreal but raised in Ontario, he has over $2.3 million in tournament cashes over his career including a $1.4 million cash in 2007. This ranks him 12th on the Canada all-time money list.
The usual handful of Full Tilt Pros came out for the event. Dave Colclough finished highest, placing 155th for $471.46. Dave Colclough is primarily a ring game player as he is known as one of the best players in the world at Pot Limit Omaha. He still plays plenty of tournaments, however, and has a healthy $2.5 million in career cashes under his belt. Brandon Adams finished in 219th for $428.60 and was the only other Red Pro to cash. Brandon Adams is known for his book “A Poker Novel” and also for winning almost $1 million off Sammy Farha playing heads-up PLO. Aside from that, he has over $390k in career tournament winnings.
The tournament started at 6:00 pm EST and ended just 3.5 hours later at 9:39 EST. The most notable player at the final table was norajean, a player ranked 64th on Pocketfives. His largest cash was on PokerStars for $67k in a $109 rebuy. kate_sexy had the largest cash on his resume of the final table for he won the $740k Guarantee back in May of this year. Most of the rest of the players were either unknown players or low to midstake regs. For example zombien’s 4th place cash for $31,716.40 was his largest cash on Full Tilt Poker ever by a long shot.
When it was down to 3-way action, norajean, TheHesse, and CoolC32 remained. Norajean was by far the most experienced of the three, although CoolC32 has played quite a few low stakes tournaments in his career. Norajean ended up busting in 3rd for $42,002.80, and this allowed the remaining duo to make a 2-way deal.
Once play resumed, CoolC32 was eliminated in 2nd place for $68,434.39. His previous largest cash was $18k for winning a $26 FO with a $42k guarantee earlier this year. It’s safe to say that 2010 has been great for him as at the start of it he was playing very low stakes and now he has worked his way to an enormous 5-figure score.
Congratulations to TheHesse for winning the coveted FTOPS jersey! He took home $75,553.78 after the chop, a huge prize compared to his previous largest cash of $11k back in July.
